Dolphin
Dolphin is a very intelligent animal. They are mammals that live in the sea. Although classified as mammals, many people calling them as fish, because these animals can indeed live in the water and swim like a fish. In fact, dolphins like cats, cows, and goats which are truly a mammal or a breastfeeding animal.
They are one part of the aquatic cetaceans’ nation. To move easily, they have a body that is tapered and shaped like a torpedo. They can move in the water easily because they have two parts of body namely the pectoral fins and dorsal fins.
They are one type of marine animal that is very flexible because they can live in all waters that exist in the world. They can be met anywhere either tropical or sub-tropical regions. There are many species of dolphins that choose to live in coastal waters as we often find at the Kiluan Bay in Lampung. Nevertheless, most of the dolphins prefer to live in the open sea or called as oceanic.
Indonesia has a lot of waters where the dolphins live in it. In addition to Lampung coastal waters, dolphins spread from the Mahakam river until Segara lagoon area in Central Java. Meanwhile, the sea which has dolphins inside it is Sawu Sea in Maluku. -

Dolphins are marine mammals with a very high inteligence. There are more than 40 species of them spread around the world. Most of them live in the ocean, but some of them such as the Chinese river dolphin live in the river. They consume fish and squid as their main diet but some of them also eat other marine mammals.The maximum size of each species is different. Maui’s dolphin (the smallest dolphin) can grow to the size of 1,7 m with the maximum weight of 50 kg, while the largest dolphin, the killer whale, can reach the maximum size of 9,5 m with the maximum body weight of 10 tons. They have streamlined bodies and two flippers located on left and right bottom of their body. Those flippers are called “pectoral fins”. On the top of their body, there is a large fin caled as “dorsal fin”. A dolphin breathe through a hole located on top of their head. It is called as “blowhole”. They have a long snout called as “rostrum”. The tail of a dolphin consist of several parts, they are: peduncle (the tail stock), flukes (the flat part of their tail which split into two), and the median notch (the middle part of the two flukes).

Lumba-lumba adalah mamalia laut dengan kecerdasan yang sangat tinggi. Terdapat lebih dari 40 species lumba-lumba yang tersebar di dunia ini. Sebagian besar dari mereka hidup di lautan, namun beberapa dari mereka seperti lumba-lumba sungai Cina tinggal di sungai. Mereka memakan ikan dan cumi-cumi sebagai makanan utama mereka namun sebagian dari mereka juga memakan mamalia laut lainnya.Ukuran maksimum dari masing masing spesies itu berbeda beda. Lumba-lumba maui (lumba-lumba terkecil) bisa tumbuh hingga berukuran 1,7 m dengan berat maksimum 50 kg, sementara lumba-lumba terbesar, ikan paus pembunuh, bisa mencapai ukuran maksimum 9,5 m dengan berat badan maksimum 10 ton. Mereka memiliki tubuh yang bersifat mampu mengurangi gesekan dan dua sirip yang terletak di bagian kiri dan kanan bawah tubuh mereka. Sirip ini disebut “pectoral fins”. Di bagian atas tubuhnya, terdapat sebuah sirip lebar yang disebut dengan “dorsal fin”. Seekor lumba-lumba bernapas melalui sebuah lubang yang terletak di bagian atas kepala mereka. Lubang ini disebut sebagai “blowhole”. Mereka memiliki sebuah moncong yang panjang yang disebut sebagai “rostrum”. Ekor dari seekor lumba-lumba terdiri dari beberapa bagian, mereka adalah: peduncle (batang ekor), flukes (bagian datar dari ekor mereka yang terbagi jadi dua), dan median notch (bagian tengah dari dua fluke tadi).
